Now’s the time
take back all your space and I’ll take back mine
letting out your breath when I breathe in mine
say what you need to say and I’ll be just fine
I'll take it in my stride
I let myself get lost in you
gave it all too much, too much too soon
And within you I would disappear
So when you wanted me I wasn’t there
And when your hands searched through searched through the sheets
to only find an empty shell of me
but when I finally found the sense to leave
I felt myself flood back, flood into me
(Flood flood flood flood
back in to me)
summer night showed me all your skin
and I showed you mine
we dissolved right in but overtime
I was losing the edge of myself so I drew a line
what I became was your blur
I let myself get lost in you
I gave it all too much too much too soon
and within you I would disappear
so when I wanted me I wasn’t there
and when your hands searched through searched through the sheets
Trying to find the empty shell of me
but I have finally found the strength to leave
I felt myself flood back, flood into me
I think it's difficult to write songs about something other than romantic love, and still be able to communicate the intensity with which those feelings can hit a person. Some of the entries on this album are fantastic examples of this niche. dani_bloop
The latest from sean thornton explores dark themes, but they’re handled with a delicate grace in these beautiful bedroom pop songs. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 25, 2022
Alvvays has always been great, but with this album they took it to the next level. Every one of these songs is lodged in my brain now, permanently (in a good way). s. moxley
